Meet Allison and Kelly

Welcome to Loving lately! We're so glad you're here.  In the Fall of 2009, we met through our college sorority.  Our relationship quickly grew from new friends, to sorority big and little, to true soul sisters as we have grown up, graduated, and become "real" adults.  From the outside, we can seem like two ordinary successful adult women- we both work full time, have wonderful marriages, continue in education, and are fortunate enough to have close family and friend relationships.  All of this is true, but so much of it is completely extraordinary : )

Kelly was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) and had multiple heart surgeries before she was even a toddler.  Her half of a heart works twice as hard and she faces daily challenges to fulfill the simple tasks of being an adult.  But beyond that, Kelly has taken her HLHS and used it as fuel to live an incredible life, full of deep devotion to her relationships, love for the wider world, soul-filling travel, and much more.  Here on Loving lately, she shares the good days and the hard ones, all with a healthy dose of good vibes, humor, and sage wisdom.

Allison was blessed to have lived a beautiful and healthy life, up until the fall of 2016 when she was slammed with a major health crisis at age 26.  She was diagnosed with Stage 2a Hodgkin's Lymphoma and immediately endured three months of chemotherapy.  She has been in remission since January 2017 and has a miraculous prognosis: greater than 90% chance that cancer is gone for good.  To her friends and family, she has been an inspirational reminder that life most often does not go the way we planned.  And that through even the most difficult times, you can always find MORE: more love, more gratitude, more acceptance, more life.  On Loving lately, she will share all things cancer survivor as well as her thoughts on life, love, and the pursuit of happiness.

Welcome to Loving lately...where we share everything we are loving lately! Pull up a chair, a cup of (iced) coffee and get ready for authentic conversation, good vibes, and our stories on these extraordinary lives we lead.

All our love, Allison and Kelly
